Animal Based Sicilian / Chicago Style Pizza.

This delicious low-carb Sicilian or Chicago style pizza is amazing. Gluten-free, no flour or seed oils. It could be considered a casserole or a deep-dish pizza. The crust is made out of a cheese and an egg mixture with a soft cake like crust, firm but fluffy. It is very low-carb. You’re going to love it.

To make this delicious recipe you will need these ingredients.

For the Crust

9×13 pan or glass baking dish

Butter for greasing pan.

4 eggs.

4 oz of softened Cream Cheese

1/3 cup Heavy Whipping Cream with no Carrageenan

1 cup of shredded whole milk, Mozzarella Cheese

1/4 cup of shredded Parmesan Cheese.

1 cup of shredded Parmesan Cheese added separately.

1/2 teaspoon of Oregano (optional)

Half a teaspoon of Minced Garlic (optional)

Oven preheated to 350°

Toppings

20-30 Pepperoni or more if you like.

Half a pound of cooked Ground Beef chopped up well.

2 cups of shredded whole milk, Mozzarella Cheese.

1/4 cup of shredded Parmesan Cheese.

Rao’s homemade Pizza sauce you can use half of a 12.3-ounce jar or the whole jar if you like extra sauce.

Ok let’s get started making this not only delicious but healthy low carb meal that even the kids will love and beg for more!

Mix in blender or food processor 4 eggs and 4oz of softened cream cheese until smooth.

Add in 1/3 cup of heavy whipping cream, 1/4 cup of shredded Parmesan cheese, half a teaspoon of oregano and half a teaspoon of minced garlic. Blend until smooth and preheat your oven to 350°.

We’re going to sprinkle the one cup of mozzarella cheese in the bottom of the greased 9 x 13 pan. Use the whole cup and spread evenly throughout the bottom of the pan. Now take the blended mixture of other ingredients and pour them into the pan. Place the pan in the middle of the oven at 350°. We’re going to cook the crust for 30 minutes or until it’s brown and firm.

You can add whatever toppings you like to your pizza but for this one we’re going to be making ground beef and pepperoni. The meat will not actually cook for very long so you want to pre-cook all of your meat, you’re basically going to put the toppings on crust and stick it back in the oven just long enough to melt the cheese and brown it a little. While the crust is cooking, lay out some pepperonis on a baking sheet and bake them until they are as done and crispy as you desire. You can even cook these in a large skillet.

Once your crust is done pulled out of the oven. If it is puffed up a little, don’t worry, it will deflate as it cools. Let the crust cool for at least five minutes.

Now it’s time to add the Rao’s homemade pizza sauce. It comes in a 12.3-ounce jar and you can actually only use half the jar to make this pizza, but if you like a lot of sauce and you don’t want it to go to waste because you’re not making another pizza for a while, use the whole jar. The sauce is not only delicious but the healthiest version of pizza sauce we have ever found. Rao’s peels the skin from the tomatoes and this lowers not only the carbs but also the toxins in tomatoes.

We want to spread the sauce evenly across the bottom of the crust all the way to the edges of the pan or dish. Now add your 2 cups of mozzarella cheese. As a side note, here you could use any cheese of your choice like cheddar, Gouda or Monterey Jack, just to name a few. Spread your cheese out evenly and start adding your toppings.

Place your pepperoni as evenly as you can across the pizza and then sprinkle on the ground beef evenly. You can add any toppings you like that conform to your diet and make many variations of this dish. Now sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup of Parmesan cheese across the top of pizza, this will melt and help hold all the toppings together. If you’re a rat like we are and love cheese, you can even add some extra mozzarella to the top as well. It’s definitely not going to hurt anything.

Put your oven on broil and stick the pan or dish back in the middle of the oven, not on the top rack. Watch it closely. It only takes about 5 minutes to melt the cheese and start to brown the top. Brown top cheese to your preferred brownness and remove from the oven. Don’t forget to turn your oven off. You want to let it sit and cool for 5 minutes. We cut ours into six square slices but you can cut yours however you like.

Use a thin spatula or pie lifter to remove the pizza slice, plate it and enjoy. We know you will love this recipe and it will certainly hit the spot for your pizza craving. the kids will want it every week, make one night a week pizza night and feed them something healthy and good.
